I think I just have to stop working on this and let it be as it is!
This is my second entry for *Asaenath's Melancholy contest: [link] I don't know if you are familiar with Thomas Mann (wrote Death in Venice). I adore German authors. I am going to use Thomas Mann as an example. Many of his stories are about lonely, melancholy men who are incredibly sensitive to things beautiful, who are basically lost in a world of their own. Although there is a strong theme of sadness and loneliness in his writings, I think there is something entirely imaginitve and magical behind it, and totally interesting. I mean, his characters are generally borderline insane, if you ask me. I think with this piece, I just wanted to capture what is beyond sadness or badness of melancholy, because I think it is quite beautiful. Not much for a description, I know, but I've been away from literature for so long... Well I hope you enjoy this! Thanks to everyone for making their stock available for me to use: picture frame flowers butterfly mask texture and Thanks guys! |

"While pensive poets painful vigils keep,
Sleepless themselves to give their readers sleep."
Alexander Pope, The Dunciad
I like this. Makes you think beyond the surface of melancholy. Very sensitive. ~Wee
